Akron, Ohio, also known by many as the “Rubber City, has been chosen as the site for the 2023 Reunion. Akron is full of history, during World War II, the city was known for the Goodyear Aircraft Corporation (GAC), which produced many subassemblies for American aircraft during WWII… but perhaps more importantly, it was also here where GAC produced under license more than four thousand examples of Chance-Vought’s legendary F4U Corsair, arguably the most effective American naval fighter of WWII, as well as producing the Blimp for the U.S. Navy.
Our visit will start at the Maps Museum, while on site we will visit Charlie’s Jewel, a B-26 Marauder, which has been beautifully restored, along with many other restored airplanes. Next, we will spend the day with several Educational Speakers, and visit the University of Akron where the B-26 Archives reside. Along the way we encounter several surprises, so make sure to join us as we take a small historical step back in time, while visiting WWII Veterans, old friends, and making new friends along the way.
We will be returning to Hilton Garden Inn, a convenient, full-service hotel. It is located at 5251 Landmark Blvd. There is a full-service restaurant, a swimming pool, workout room, and a lounge in the hotel. In-room Wi-Fi, free parking and airport shuttle!
Rates are $129 per night for single through quad occupancy. The hotel will honor our group room rate beginning August 17 and extending to August 24. Book by July 29, to receive this special rate!
